I’m a Student Pilot

Well, I am not in Africa anymore. Neither am I in California. In January I started back to school at LeTourneau University in Longview, Texas to study for a bachelors degree in Mission Aviation.

Wholeheartedly contribute to holistic development of individuals.

My personal mission statement.

I served with Mercy Ships from 2013-2017. In 2017 I moved back to California and worked at a school district providing IT support. Moving home from Africa was filled with questions. Of which, the most burdening question was, “so Ryan, what’s next?” I was left paralyzed trying to answer this question. I strongly wanted to move away from the IT field, but I did not know what I wanted to transition into. During my return home I attempted to find some new hobbies. Karate took first position. I practiced for about a year before I was offered private pilot lessons. I really enjoyed the pilot lessons, which was a childhood dream of mine. It took me me a number of years to figure what I wanted to do next, but by the grace of God my passion to become a pilot has been rekindled and this is where I believe I am called to for the future.

As I mentioned, I am now pursuing a bachelors degree in Mission Aviation at LeTourneau University in Longview, Texas. When finished, I will have a bachelors degree, pilots license and aviation mechanic license. This will equip me to serve God through aviation anywhere in the world, most especially in some of the least served locations on earth. With a commercial pilots license I will be able to fly planes; hoping to aid in the mission field around the world. The airframe and powerplant mechanic license gives me the authority needed to work on planes. This is an important combination when flying overseas where a plane can break down in the middle of an isolated location, potentially leaving me as the only person available to perform the maintenance needed to get the plane flying again.

I have taken this step to pursue my faith in Jesus Christ. I am trusting, in faith, that God will provide for the plans He has set before me. I currently do not have all of the financial means I need. I started courses in January and am grateful that God has met my financial needs far. However, I am asking for you to join in this effort.

I’m am now preparing for my Fall classes and am writing to request support for the upcoming semesters. Currently I am in need of $25K for the Fall semester of which $14K is needed by August 1st for the start of the semester. My 4 year total need is close to $260K. If you are willing and able to help, please use any of the methods listed below to contribute.

When I return in the Fall, I will be working on campus as a resident assistant for the housing location that I am living in. This job and being enrolled as a full time student will keep me rather busy. I will begin my flight training in an aircraft this semester as well. Any support you can help with is greatly appreciated!

Please contact me if you have any questions. I would love to hear from you! Below is a link to send me a direct message.
