On October 19th I will be leaving to volunteering at Pioneer Christian Hospital (PCH). Located in the heart of the Congo River Basin Rainforest, PCH has worked for 13 years to impact the health of the nation by offering healthcare and hope to those who need it most in the name of Jesus Christ.
During this trip I will spend two months working alongside Dr. Joe Harvey – the founder and medical director of PCH. Apart from serving as an assistant to Dr. Harvey, I hope to gain a deeper understanding of pursuing a future career in the medical field.
My first visit to the Republic of Congo was with Mercy Ships in August of 2013. I was serving onboard the Africa Mercy as an IT support specialist for the eight months while in the country. My job involved maintaining the technology needed to run the operations of the ship and hospital.
It was during the end of our stay in the Congo that I met Dr. Harvey when he visited the ship to pickup an X-ray machine. With the continuing encouragement of a friend that I served with on the Africa Mercy, I began praying and seeking the Lord’s will in volunteering with PCH.
Bryant Myers writes, “Words clarify the meaning of deeds. Deeds verify the meaning of words.” I pray that my actions reflect my faith in Jesus Christ who has the power of transforming hearts, bringing hope and healing to the world. I would greatly appreciate your support in prayer for this trip. With the support of many, I have raised the needed $5,360 for this trip.
